About Claire

Claire, works in the travel industry, and lives with her fiancé, Tom, and their dog, Coco. As first-time buyers, they wanted to update their home with their own personal stamp, making it a place they could be proud of. Working through the property room by room, they found that they preferred a neutral decor quite quickly, which made their decision easy when it came to choosing a colour and style for their kitchen.

The transformation

Compact and cluttered

Claire’s old design was small and narrow, which meant it was difficult for family and friends to gather and chat. The cream, tongue-and-groove units were outdated, and made the room look dreary. It was also difficult to complete household chores, such as organising laundry.

Warm and welcoming

Claire's Allendale kitchen has a classic, shaker design that matches the heritage style of her 1930’s home. The warm tone is versatile, whilst the grained finish matches other timber features for a co-ordinated look. Thanks to cabinetry like larders and drawers, it is easier for Claire to keep her room clutter-free.

The design details

A laundry larder

The new layout means Claire now has enough room for the larder that she always wanted. Fitted next to laundry devices, it offers a great place to sort linen, towels, and other items whilst freeing up floor space to keep the compact layout looking open.

Deep drawers

Pan drawers are deeper than standard options, and help to maximise every inch of space available. Claire can now tuck items away, and keep essentials like pots, pans and other cookware within easy reach.

Glazed units

To keep her new layout looking bright and open, Claire opted for glazed wall units, which also helped to break up the bank of wall cupboards. This makes her small space feel less crowded, whilst offering ample room for storing glassware.
